I'm

Karoline

a 24 year old from Hønefoss (Norway) with a professional degree in UX Design and a bachelor in Cognitive Science. My ambition is to work full time as a UX/UI designer to design seamless and user friendly services and products, shaping a pleasurable user experience for everyone.

I have a burning commitment to UX Design. Being fascinated by understanding and learning about the human mind, their mental models, behaviours, and thought processes in interacting with digital products. I find it vital to properly understand the users’ needs, by working closely together with customers and potential users during the entire design process in ensuring a successful product. My broad curiosity reflects the wish I have to progressively learn and develop my competence, so that I will always work with upgraded knowledge within the field of UX design.

UX Design and Cognitive Science

Maybe you’re thinking; Cognitive Science, what is that? How does cognitive science relate to UX Design?

Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary scientific study of the human mind and its processes, including knowledge from the fields of psychology, neuroscience, computer science/artificial intelligence, linguistics, philosophy and anthropology. Aiming at understanding human cognitive processes such as language, memory, reasoning, perception, attention and emotion.

I’m drawn to the human brain and its mechanisms involved in information processing. Knowledge of how we perceive the world around us offers an in-depth understanding of the users’ mind in interaction with products. Which is critical in creating quality user experiences. Cognitive science therefore constitutes an important field within UX design, by empowering the humanization of technology with high prestige.
